Play Areas & Open Spaces

The Parish Council is extremely proud of the Play Areas provided for residents of the Parish and recent years have seen major refurbishment programmes.  You can find our Play Areas at -

HOLBROOK TYTHE BARN
This is a much used Play Area in the grounds of Holbrook Tythe Barn in Pondtail Road.  Play where equipment for both toddlers and juniors is provided.

For the toddlers, there are cradle swings and a Multi Play Unit, which offers a variety of play elements, including a slide and a fireman’s pole.

Juniors can enjoy swings, a large climbing frame, balance beams and an aerial runway.

Recent years has seen the replacement of all the safety surfacing tiles, with a continuous safety surface, with brightly coloured wear pads under the swings, at the foot of the slide etc. The main part of the aerial runway equipment was replaced and all of the equipment was re-painted.

AMBERLEY CLOSE
2005 saw the complete refurbishment of this Play Area.  All of the original equipment was removed and replaced with modern steel equipment. The Area again provides areas for both toddlers and juniors and also a seated area for parents and carers. For the toddlers, there are cradle swings, a Multi Play Unit and a four seater rocker. For the juniors, there are swings, a climbing net, a large Multi Play Area and a twister.

The seating area provides seats and a picnic table, together with two large free-standing board games.

A final enhancement to the Play Area was the provision of a tarmac path from Rowlands Road to the gate of the Play Area.

Earles Meadow Play Area

If you encounter a problem at any of our Play Areas, please contact the Parish Office.

The Parish Council owns and maintains some thirteen acres of land at EARLES MEADOW, formerly known as Greens Farm, just South of the A264.
Despite being bounded by the busy dual carriageway and the railway, the area provides for quiet and peaceful walks away from the bustle of the traffic. In the lower area, boardwalks are provided to help the walker across the wooded, boggy habitat area.
The Friends of Earles Meadow Conservation Group periodically undertake work on the site and there are two volunteers who pick up litter. If you would like to know more and become involved, please contact the Parish Office.
