PUBLICATION OF ITEMS OF EXPENDITURE OVER £500
In the autumn of 2010, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government wrote to local authority associations and individual principal authorities ‘requesting’ that all public bodies publish details of every payment made by them of over £500, on their websites. Accordingly, the Local Government Association published a draft Code of Practice as to how this might be achieved. Whilst this was again directed at principal authorities, it was still not implied that the ‘request’ also applied to Parish and Town Councils.

That said, however, a Parliamentary question on 4th November 2010 was answered as follows “We are requesting them (town and parish councils) to publish details of expenditure over £500”. Current advice is that “where Councils are able to comply with the request, they should do so without incurring too much time or expenditure”.

North Horsham Parish Council has resolved to comply with this advice by generating a list of the required payments from the list of payments already prepared for Council meetings. You can find them here
